About GameJS Academy
One parent, one developer, one course — built because I could not find the one I wanted for my own kid.
Why this exists
When my child wanted to make a game, I went looking for a course and kept finding the same two things: long video playlists nobody finishes, or block-based tools that hide the real language. I wanted the thing in between — short lessons, real JavaScript typed by hand, and a game worth showing off at the end of the week.
So I built it. Everything runs in your browser: no install, no account, no server holding your child's code. Lessons 1–2 are free, so you can see how it works before paying anything.
Who made it
I am a developer and a parent, not a trained teacher — that is the honest version. What I did instead: every lesson is written the way I would explain it out loud, at the kitchen table, to a ten-year-old who would rather be playing.
If some mission wording is confusing, that is a bug in the course — tell us and we rewrite the sentence.
How a lesson is built
- One idea per lesson, 10–18 minutes, so a session ends at a natural stopping point instead of an argument.
- The child types real code from the first minute — no drag-and-drop blocks, no simulator of a simulator.
- Every mission can be finished with the starter code plus a few small edits. It is built to be winnable.
- A Hint comes before the solution, and the solution exists so nobody quits — not so nobody thinks.
- Progress saves on the device itself. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is scored by a stranger.
What it is not
- Not a video course. There is nothing to watch — everything is typed, run and broken on purpose.
- Not a subscription. One payment is
$29$19 during the launch offer for lifetime access, covered by the 30-day refund policy. - Not a classroom. No accounts, no chat, no other players, no ads — see the privacy policy.
- Not a school curriculum. Lessons are in English and assume basic reading (ages 10+).
